Is a contest the same as a raffle?

A contest is a campaign where winners are determined by some special merit. A raffle is a type of contest where participants do not have to make any effort to gain a competitive edge. All you need to do is buy one or more numbered tickets. Raffle winners are drawn at random, which is the key difference from the contest.
